10 Years of Success: Dragon Capital Celebrates Its Anniversary May 17, 2010
KIEV, May 17, 2010 – Dragon Capital, the top investment bank in Ukraine, is celebrating its 10 year anniversary and confidently looking ahead to new endeavors.
Over the past decade, the company has grown from a small investment boutique into a major investment bank which is no now responsible for more than a third of trades on the Ukrainian Exchange, the country’s main stock trading platform. Dragon Capital completed more than 50 investment-banking deals, including IPOs, private placements and M&A transactions, having raised about $2 billion for major Ukrainian companies. The company holds six “Best Equity House in Ukraine” awards from Euromoney.
"One has to come up with a revolutionary idea to make it in Western markets these days”, pointed out Tomas Fiala, Founder and Managing Director of Dragon Capital, in his congratulatory speech. “In Ukraine, one can succeed by satisfying three key conditions: create and maintain a professional, cohesive and loyal team; develop and implement a sound strategy benefiting your clients, and be enormously patient and committed to the business you are in. I’m happy to see us being remarkably successful in each of the areas.”
"I would like to thank our competitors for their presence on the market as they keep us in excellent shape and strengthen our resolve to succeed”, added Dmytro Tarabakin, Dragon Capital’s Co-founder, Managing Director and Head of Trading and Domestic Sales. “I feel honored to express exceptional gratitude to our partners who helped us develop large-scale and important projects such as the launch of the Ukrainian Exchange and enact legislation essential for the development of a civilized stock market in Ukraine.”
Dmytro Tarabakin recalls, “A full 10 years have passed since we came up with an idea to establish an investment company, but it looks as if it were only 10 weeks ago. We used to have only 16 people in our first team, all sitting in a small rented office but their eyes burning with determination to make our business a success. Still, we did not dare to think back then of becoming a 160-strong team. Impressively, we have grown 10 times over 10 years. I believe that the next decade will bring us equally strong results, surpassing our boldest expectations.”
