As in previous years, the event gathered close to 300 guests, with top speakers addressing the audience of international and local investors including Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, other government members, top management of leading Ukrainian companies, representatives of international financial institutions and western diplomats. Over 25 Ukrainian and foreign TV channels, news wires and other print and online media covered the event.
Dragon Capital CEO Tomas Fiala, in his opening speech, elaborated on Dragon Capital’s investment plans for this year, calling on investors to follow Dragon Capital’s example by increasing their exposure to the Ukrainian market.
“Since the middle of 2015, when we decided that the worst is behind us and it’s time to invest again, we’ve been doubling our investments every year and plan to do it this year again. Together with our co-investors, we plan to invest $300 million in Ukraine in 2018. But what makes us nervous is corruption and lack of rule of law. Hope we’ll soon see inspiring actions in this direction from the government,” said Fiala.
In addition to Prime Minister Groysman, other keynote speakers at the conference included Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk, Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli, and Dr. Michael Carpenter, Senior Director at Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.
